Onion pakoda
Preparation timing 20 minutes
Ingredients:
  • Onion - 3 to 4
  • Gram flour / besan - 1 cup
  • Rice flour - 1 tbsp
  • Ginger - 1 inch ( finely chopped)
  • Garlic - 4 to 5 ( finely chopped)
  • Red chilly powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Green chilly - 2 ( finely chopped)
  • Baking soda - 1 pinch
  • Oil for deep frying
  • Salt - to taste
Direction:
  • Firstly peel and slice the onions thinly.
  • Take a large mixing bowl and put the sliced onions. Add salt and mix it well.
  • Then add gram flour (besan) , rice flour, a pinch of soda , red chilly powder, turmeric powder , chopped ginger, chopped garlic, chopped green chilly and few drops of water.
  • Mix all the ingredients really well with the help of your hand or a spatula.
  • Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.
  • Take a ball size pakora mixture and drop it small small portion of that mixture in the hot oil.
  • Turn the pakoras occasionally till both side of pakoras turn golden and crisp.
  • Then take the pakoda out from the hot oil and keep it in a paper towel to absorb extra oil from it.
  • Now your onion pakoda is ready.
  • Serve onion pakoda hot with some tomato ketchup.
