Dall recipe/ yellow dall


Ingredients:


  • Tuvar dall or arhar dall - 1 cup (soak for about 20 minutes)
  • Ghee or oil - 2 tsp
  • Garlic - 5 to 6 (finely chopped)
  • Coriander - finely chopped
  • Curry leaves - 4 to 5
  • Green chilly - 1 tsp finely chopped
  • Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
  • Assafoetida or Hing - 2 pinch
  • Cumin seeds - 1tsp
  • Tomato - 2 chopped
  • Water - 2 & 1/2 cup
  • Salt to taste 
Directions:

  • Soak the dall for about 20 minutes.
  • Pour the dall into a pressure cooker and add 2 - 2 &1/2 cups of water.
  • Add turmeric powder and assafoetida or (hing)
  • Pressure cook it for 6-8 whistle in a meddium heat.
  • After that leave the pressure cooker for aside and let the pressure settle down
  • Transfer the cooked dall into a bowl and mashed it with a whisk aor a hand blender
     For Tempering
  •  In a pan heat ghee or oil 
  • Add cumin seeds and curry leaves
  • Add garlic and saute it till the garlic turn golden
  • Add chopped tomato, green chilly and add 1 pinch of assafoetida or (hing)
  • Let it cook for 2-3 minutes
  • Now transfer the pressure cooked  dall into the pan and mix it well
  • Now your dall is ready
  • Serve hot
